Tied to  Alma Mater, Building the Future Together | Jiecon Conference Room Officially Established at College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Donghua University

Returning Home with Pride

Grateful for one's roots, giving back to alma mater. On September 7, a donation ceremony was successfully held at the Songjiang Campus of Donghua University, marking Shanghai Jiecon Chemicals Hi-Tech Co., Ltd.'s contribution to the Development Fund of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The "Jiecon Conference Room" was officially unveiled and established within the college.

Led by Chairman Dong Hongxia (a graduate student alumnus from the 1994 class in Chemical Fiber) and General Manager Ma Zhengsheng (a graduate student alumnus from the 1994 class and doctoral alumnus from the 1996 class in Dyeing and Finishing), a five-member team returned to their alma mater. They joined colledges leaders including Party Secretary Yan Jun, Dean Wu Peiyi, Associate Deans Dong Xia and Chen Qianjin, Committee Member and Head of Textile and Chemical Engineering Department Ji Bailing, Committee Member and Office Director Zhu Xiaoxu, and Research and International Affairs Secretary Lin Yichen, for the naming and unveiling ceremony. The event was hosted by Office Director Zhu Xiaoxu, who officially announced the establishment of the "Jieyikang Conference Room."

Naming Ceremony

At the ceremony, Chairman Dong Hongxia presented a check for 200,000 RMB on behalf of Shanghai Jiecon to Dean Wu Peiyi. This heartfelt donation, reflecting deep alumni affection, will be used to name the college’s 5100 Conference Room. It will significantly improve the school’s teaching and research infrastructure, creating a more comfortable and high-quality space for academic discussions, project exchanges, and faculty-student dialogues, thereby providing strong support for talent development and discipline building.

Following this, the official unveiling began. Party Secretary Yan Jun and General Manager Ma Zhengsheng jointly lifted the red curtain, revealing the new plaque bearing the name "Jiecon Conference Room." This plaque stands not only as a tangible symbol of corporate support for education but also embodies the profound partnership between Jiecon and the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Donghua University, marking another milestone in their enduring collaboration.

 Dean Wu Peiyi expressed sincere gratitude for Jiecon’s generous contribution and highly praised the company’s exemplary role as vice president of the university’s Alumni Association. Later that afternoon, during the College’s welcome ceremony for new students, the College awarded Jiecon a certificate of donation. Ma Zhengsheng was appointed an external career mentor at Donghua University and delivered a speech as a distinguished alumnus representative.   

Carrying the Torch Forward

Having grown from the campus of Donghua University, they now give back to its fertile ground. Ma Zhengsheng has dedicated nearly three decades to research in textile functional materials, while Dong Hongxia, both an alumnus and family member of the College, co-founded Shanghai Jiecon with him. Based in Donghua University’s National University Science Park, the company is a national high-tech enterprise. Looking back, Jiecon had previously contributed to the school on two occasions—during the 70th and 75th anniversaries of the department’s founding. This latest conference room naming marks yet another meaningful gesture of gratitude from the couple toward their alma mater.

Since its establishment in 2005, Jiecon has focused on the research and production of functional additives, fibers, and masterbatches, and has partnered with the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering to establish a joint graduate training program, enabling seamless resource sharing between industry and academia. Moving forward, Jiecon will remain true to its original mission, leveraging its strength to actively build bridges between industry and academia, supporting talent cultivation and scientific advancement at its alma mater, walking hand-in-hand toward a shared future.
